Ceviri Dukkani is looking for an In-House
Turkish to English translator to work at its corporate
headquarters located in Istanbul or from a home office. This
position requires the highest levels of language ability in both English
and Turkish. The interview process will involve rigorous language testing to
assess each applicant’s ability to read, edit, and evaluate technical written
material in both languages. Such expertise is typically only gained through
daily language immersion for a minimum of five (5) years and a formal
language-related education.
Responsibilities and
Essential Functions:
- Conduct final quality assurance and quality control of translations
from Turkish to English with high attention to detail.
- Read, revise, and evaluate translated documents to detect errors in
spelling, grammar, usage, style, tone, meaning, syntax, and terminology.
- Re-write previously mistranslated or poorly translated content.
- Edit translated documents to ensure they contain a true and
accurate representation of the original source-language content and comply
with client-specific and country-specific editing guidelines and
standardized style guides.
- Consult with Ceviri Dukkani’s desktop publishing team to ensure
that style, layout, design, art, graphs and charts convey the meaning of
the original source language content.
- Perform country-specific localization for computer software,
help-files, and websites.
- Evaluate the performance of and provide support and guidance to
in-country freelance translators.
- Create and manage language and subject-specific localization
glossaries.
- Work as part of a team and follow instructions from a language team
leader.
- Perform the responsibilities listed above while seated at a work
station for multiple hours per day.
Requirements:
- Ability to pass Ceviri Dukkani’s language proficiency exam which
will test the applicant’s skills in the following areas in both English
and Turkish:
- Oral and written fluency.
- Ability to read, edit, and evaluate technical material.
- Knowledge of reviewing and evaluating translated documents to
detect errors in spelling, grammar, usage, style, tone, meaning, syntax,
and terminology.
- Use of country-specific editing guidelines and editing formats.
- Knowledge of and prior experience using Microsoft Office.
- Carry out the translation of a minimum of 25.000
characters per day
- Must be able to pay close attention to detail
- Must be calm under pressure
- Able to meet deadlines and juggle responsibilities
- Able to work independently and prioritize workload
- Familiarity with the production process for
translations
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of
our internal process and structures
Preferred But Not Required:
- Professional translation experience, or other similar language
industry experience requiring true and accurate translations.
- Solid knowledge of SDL Studio 2014 or other CAT tools.
- Master’s degree in a language-related field.

Working hours:
Monday – Friday 9am-6pm
Saturday 9am-1pm
